Lewie Coyle has left Leeds United yet again.

The highly-rated right-back returned to Elland Road following his loan at Fleetwood Town in early January but has immediately returned to the North West, with the Blackpool Gazette reporting that his spell with the Cod Army has now been extended until the end of the season.

The report adds that Coyle is not currently in Marcelo Bielsa’s plans at Leeds, despite the lack of real cover for Luke Ayling on the right of defence.

Coyle, who joined Leeds five years ago, has a contract at Elland Road until 2020. But it remains to be seen whether he will ever be given a chance.

Speaking to the Gazette, the Yorkshire-born defender admitted that he is unsure about where his future lies.

“I just take each game and week as it comes. As long as I am enjoying football and playing football I am happy,” said Coyle.

“I want to play football week in, week out and keep my level of performance, whether that be here or at Leeds.

“I’m aware I have this year and next year remaining on my contract at Leeds. I’m not looking too far ahead at the moment.”

Coyle has made 23 first-team appearances for Leeds but none of those have come under Bielsa, with the youngster spending time on loan at Fleetwood since the start of the 2017/18 season.

He has certainly impressed at Highbury, winning the club’s Players’ Player of the Year award in the spring so you can imagine that Joey Barton’s side would love to sign him on a permanent basis should the opportunity arrive.
