Reports over the weekend claimed Leicester City had chosen former Monaco boss Jardim to replace Puel at the King Power Stadium.
Claude Puel’s future was seemingly cast into doubt once again over the weekend, with Telefoot claiming that Leicester City had lined up the former Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim as the softy-spoken Frenchman’s successor.
But, according to the Mirror, Puel’s job is safe… for now at least.
The former Southampton and Nice coach has seemingly been under pressure ever since he arrived at the King Power Stadium a year-and-a-half ago, with his team selection and pragmatic style earning him few admirers amongst a vocal fan base.
Despite guiding Leicester to wins against both Chelsea and Manchester City over the festive period, the Foxes have now lost four of their last five games in all competitions, including an FA Cup defeat at League Two Newport County and Saturday’s last-gasp 4-3 thriller against Wolves.
The Mirror, however, claims that the 2016 Premier League champions have told Puel that he is not in immediate risk of the sack, and the 57-year-old is confident that he will stay in the Midlands until the end of the season.
Puel’s potential successor Jardim is a highly-rated and respected coach who led a Monaco side containing Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva and Bejnamin Mendy to the 2017 Ligue 1 title and the Champions League semi-finals.
Telefoot add that AC Milan have identified him as a potential replacement for Gennaro Gattuso.
