You could say Liverpool’s biggest weakness is their lack of an undisputed, first-choice centre forward. However, Rush sees that as a positive.
Ian Rush may be the highest goalscorer in the history of Liverpool Football Club, but the legendary Welshman believes the current crop aren’t too bad either, according to Liverpoolfc.com.
Rush, who’s 346 goals for the Merseyside giants is by far and away the most since the club’s foundation, stands proud as one of the game’s great poachers, an orthodox number nine for whom finding the net was simply a natural reaction. An instinct.

Forwards of his ilk are increasing rare in the modern game, however, with Liverpool’s interchangeable attacking triumvirate consisting of talented, all-round attackers renowned for their incisive link-play and elusive movement as opposed to any feats of prolific goalscoring.
However, Rush has lauded the “immense” talent at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal and says the variety of options available to the former Dortmund coach makes Liverpool a frighteningly unpredictable proposition.
“If you’re the opposition trying to suss out Liverpool, I think it’s difficult,” Rush told the club’s official website.
“[They’ve got] a football brain; [Roberto] Firmino, [Phillipe] Coutinho, [Daniel] Sturridge (below) – when someone’s in their position, they’ve got to look for the space in another position.

“I think that’s what Liverpool are doing now. You can’t say, ‘He’s the main striker’. They’ve got immense talent there and they seem to be gelling now because they’re working as a team.
“If you’re the opposition, it must be very, very difficult to judge who you’re up against.”
Having tallied an impressive 24 goals in ten league games so far, Klopp’s high-flying Reds are currently the top flight’s joint-most clinical side.

However, in contrast to their fellow pacesetters, notably Chelsea and Manchester City, Liverpool are almost entirely freed from any reliance upon the contribution of an individual, with Coutinho, Firmino, Sadio Mane and James Milner all level at the top of the club’s personal goalscoring charts with four apiece so far.
