Ouasim Bouy signed for Leeds United on a free this summer before heading out to Spanish second divisionside Cultural Leonesa on loan.
Five years ago, Ouasim Bouy was being plucked from Ajax’s famous youth academy by Serie A giants Juventus. These days, he can’t even get a place on the bench for Spanish second division side Cultural Leonesa.
The former Dutch youth international may have missed Leonesa’s first game of the season through injury but there seems to be no excuse for his ongoing omission from the starting XI. Bouy was left out for two league fixtures before making his debut with a 62 minute run-out against Alcorcon in the Copa Del Rey.
After being left out of the squad again for the proceeding clash with Huesca, however, Bouy was once more nowhere to be seen as Leonesa drew 0-0 with Almeria on Friday night.
It’s fair to say Leeds United would have hoped for a little more from their most intriguing summer signing. The Whites landed Bouy on a four-year deal this summer following his release from Juventus and immediately loaned him out to feeder club Leonesa.
Leeds used the transfer market excellently during the summer, bringing in under-the-radar talents like Samu Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski. But Bouy has a long way to go to justify the Elland Road giants handing him such a lengthy contract.
The 24-year-old’s career has been far from conventional in recent years, enduring six loan spells across five years at Juve, and he does not currently look like living up to his one-time wonderkid potential during this latest temporary switch.
