Without an appearance since January, Leeds United’s forgotten man Marcus Antonsson would surely give more thought to other offers now.

It is fair to say Marcus Antonsson’s debut season in English football has not quite lived up to expectations. After a bright start to life at Leeds United after arriving from Sweden last summer, the striker has rapidly become the club’s seldom-seen forgotten man.
Therefore, you wonder whether he regrets turning down one of the other offers to put pen to paper at Elland Road, as reported by LUTV.
After all, with 10 goals in his 12 appearances, former Kalmar forward Antonsson was the Swedish league’s top scorer when he departed for Yorkshire midway through the Allsvenskan campaign. As a result, the 25-year-old was not short of suitors.
“It was not a hard choice for me at all really”, Antonsson said in quotes available on LUTV. “I was the top scorer in Sweden, so I had a couple of options.
“I knew about Leeds United before and that it was a big club. As soon as I stepped in here at Elland Road I just felt that it was right.”
With the benefit of hindsight, however, Antonsson may have harboured one or two second thoughts about following compatriot Pontus Jansson to the Championship.

He scored in only his fourth league appearance in an impressive 2-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday but has not found the net in the second tier since. Furthermore, his last Championship start came all the way back in September and he has not featured in any competition since January’s FA Cup defeat at non-league Sutton United.
Leeds manager Garry Monk stated earlier this month that Antonsson could earn his place back in the side ahead of a testing end to the season, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Yet after being frozen out of the squad and forced to play with the reserves, it is unlikely that the Swede will reappear any time soon.

Perhaps he would give those other offers more serious thought if they came around again in the summer.
