Leeds United loaning Bournemouth’s Adam Federici could be perfect for all parties

Adam Federici nearly joined Nottingham Forest in the summer and should be on Leeds United’s radar in January.

If you asked Leeds United fans what they are dreaming of in the January transfer window, you’d probably be met with a wide variety of responses.

Some would like a proven Championship centre-forward, others a natural left-back. But most Leeds fans would be united in agreeing that a reliable, experienced goalkeeper is a must in the mid-season transfer window.

And with Adam Federici returning to training in the near future after three months on the sidelines with a knee injury, perhaps a veteran shot-stopper with two Championship promotions on his CV will enter their sights.

Federici would have been number one at Nottingham Forest right now had that ill-timed knee problem not scuppered the move. As reported by the Nottingham Post, the 32-year-old had agreed to move to the City Ground in January.

But with his parent club Bournemouth boasting both Asmir Begovic and Artur Boruc, it appears that Federici still needs to secure a move away if he wants to keep his hopes of starting for Australia at the World Cup alive.

And while Federici isn’t the most faultless goalkeeper in world football, he has bags of Championship nous and has the potential to be one of the best in the division on his day.

He would surely fill Leeds fans with more confidence than the limited Andy Lonergan or the error-prone Felix Wiedwald, both of whom have shared goalkeeping duties this season with neither doing enough to keep his place on a regular basis.
