Leeds’ chances of causing a shock at Anfield have just increased.

Travelling to Anfield can be daunting at the best of times but when you’re travelling to Anfield preparing to take on one of the most exhilarating attacking sides in current European football, the trip West becomes just a little bit more ominous.

However, Leeds United have been handed a huge boost in the lead up to Tuesday’s EFL Cup quarter-final clash with the news that not one, not two, not three, but four of Liverpool’s most efficient creators and takers of chances could all be unavailable in midweek.

Philippe Coutinho, arguably the Premier League’s Player of the Season so far, will be out for the foreseeable future after suffering an ankle injury in Liverpool’s hard-fought 2-0 win against Sunderland on Saturday with creator-in-chief Adam Lallana likely to join him on the sidelines.

Furthermore, Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge are also doubtful at best with calf problems as Jurgen Klopp’s side face up to the prospect of taking on their Championship opponents without four key figures who have contributed 13 goals and 14 assists between them this season.

Understandably, the Leeds fans have taken the news in good spirits.
