The former Swansea City boss continues to perform miracles at Leeds United.
So far, so good for Andrea Radrizzani at Elland Road.
While Massimo Cellino’s whirlwind arrival three years ago coincided with manager Brian McDermott being sacked and then reinstated in a baffling 24 hours that would in many ways epitomise the Italian’s reign in West Yorkshire, his Italian counterpart has proved to a breath of fresh air so far.
Pablo Hernandez has been secured on a permanent deal, Pontus Jansson is not far behind and Charlie Taylor will not be leaving this month with Leeds in the midst of a promotion push that is rapidly gathering momentum.
And, for a club that has so often disregarded the long-term, Radrizzani’s latest claims on manager Garry Monk’s future will only endear him further to a fan base that has had its fair share of, let us say, interesting owners for over a decade.
“It’s not a big issue, to be honest,” Radrizzani told The Guardian of Monk’s contract, which expires at the end of the season.
“We are in communication – myself, Massimo and Garry. I see that all the three parties are convinced and have the intention to stay together. Sooner or later we will sit down.”
After six managers in three seasons under Cellino, Monk is certain to be the first Leeds gaffer to last the entire campaign since McDermott in 2013/14. And, fortunately for Leeds fans, he could well be at the helm for a great deal longer, too.
