Hadi Sacko had a mixed season on loan at Elland Road from Sporting Lisbon but he is set to return to Leeds United this summer.
If Hadi Sacko wants to win over the majority of Leeds United supporters, honing his final ball would not go amiss. Though it appears that he will have the opportunity to do just that next season.
Portuguese newspaper Record claim that Leeds have agreed to sign Sacko permanently from Sporting Lisbon this summer after spending the entire 2016/17 season on loan at Elland Road.
The report adds that The Whites were forced to pay £1.5 million to extend the 23-year-old’s stay – more than they had initially hoped to spend. Therefore, the deal will already be subject to a degree of scrutiny.
And judging by the reaction of Leeds supporters on Twitter, there is almost a 50-50 split between those who expect Sacko to justify the investment with interest and those who believe the Frenchman should never have been given a second chance at the Yorkshire giants.
The fact that Sacko produced just two goals and three assists in 38 Championship games means you do not need to be a genius to realise where improvements must be made next season.
The sight of Sacko exploding clear of the last line of defence only to make a mess of the final pass remains the abiding memory of his debut season at Elland Road.
Sacko certainly has his critics. But this is his chance to silence them.
I’ll take Sacko. He’ll be the only out and out winger at the club (Dallas?). Roofe better central IMO. Leeds need more wingers.
