Paul Heckingbottom has won just once since replacing Thomas Christiansen at Championship giants Leeds United and the Elland Road crowd aren’t impressed.
There is one common word that crops up when Leeds United fans discuss the impact made by Paul Heckingbottom since he replaced Thomas Christiansen at Elland Road in February; ‘backwards’.
The 40-year-old may have been in charge for just eight games but it appears that the tide is already turning against him from some sections of the support. A 1-0 win against Brentford stands as Heckingbottom’s only victory so far while a dreadful performance in the 3-0 home defeat against Wolves a week ago was worrying to say the least.
It takes time, of course, for a new manager to put his stamp on the squad and instil his own philosophy, but after a month at the helm, Leeds fans are still none the wiser about what style Heckingbottom is trying to play.
At least under Christiansen the philosophy and style was clear and defined, even if the results did not always follow.
As it stands, Heckingbottom’s win ratio stands at 16 per cent, only Darko Milanic has worse since the turn of the century, and it should be pointed out that even Dave Hockaday, the first managerial appointment under Massimo Cellino, won twice as many matches in two fewer games before getting the axe.
Current owner Andrea Radrizzani does not seem to be quite as trigger happy as his madcap predecessor but, in the eyes of some Leeds fans, Heckingbottom should already be watching his back.
