Championship giants Leeds United have a new badge and it is fair to say the Elland Road faithful are not too happy.

Leeds fans celebrate their team's victory during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Derby County at Elland Road on November 29, 2014 in Leeds, England.

Leeds United fans wanted a new striker with a proven Championship track record this month. Another left-back would also have been welcomed at Elland Road, as would a dynamic box-to-box midfielder.

Instead, they will have to make do with a new badge. And it is fair to say Leeds fans are about as underwhelmed by its unveiling as they are with the club’s January transfer activity.

There are certainly a few plus points to the club’s latest crest. The club’s full name is now printed clear and proud, replacing the acronym ‘LUFC’.

The colour scheme is spot on and, quite clearly, the fans are designed to be at the forefront of this apparent new era.

Then again, it is difficult to get away from the feeling that this has come straight out of Microsoft Paint or some forgotten, ill-fated football video game from a bygone era.

Change is usually met with resistance but the phrase ‘if it ain’t broke’ comes to mind.

Although if this badge was supposed to unite the fan base as one, it looks to have done its job. Almost every Leeds fan with a Twitter account in their name seems united in believing they probably could have done a better job.

Maybe 10,000 people can be wrong.
