Newcastle United have failed to find a club willing to take Jack Colback despite previous links to Aston Villa.

It is no secret that Newcastle United are desperate to get Jack Colback off their books.
The midfielder has not played a single second of first-team football all season after allegedly defying Rafa Benitez’s instructions to find a new club in the summer. Now, the 27-year-old is still stuck at St James’ Park and is likely to stay there until the end of the campaign.
But with Financial Fair Play keeping a close eye on Villa’s accounts, there is no chance the midfielder will be moving to the Midlands on a permanent deal this month. And his £40,000-a-week wages also look to have ruled out a loan move to Steve Bruce’s fourth placed promotion hopefuls.

So unless Colback is willing to substantially reduce his wage demands, it seems that another six months in Newcastle’s reserves awaits.
After all, if he has not been offered an escape route by now, it appears unlikely that he ever will.
Aston Villa have been linked with a whole host of midfielders this month, from Adam Clayton to Bradley Dack, but there are no new faces in Steve Bruce’s engine room just yet.
And any hopes they might have harboured of bringing in Colback seem to be over as long as Financial Fair Play hangs over Villa’s heads. Who, if anyone, will come to Colback’s rescue now?
