Championship leaders Leeds United were linked with Vikoria Plzen striker Michail Krmencik in January.

Michail Krmencik was a man in demand in January.
The Czech striker was scoring goals for fun at Viktoria Plzen and apparently attracted admiring glances from a number of clubs in England.
Wolves and Aston Villa were interested according to Jutarnji List, while The Mail stated that Newcastle United were hoping to strike a £10 million deal to bring him to St James’ Park.
And, if you believe Plzen CEO Adolf Sadek, Leeds United were in the race too.
“In the summer, Slavia Prague came in (then) Leeds in the winter, then Montpellier, Bordeaux, eventually Newcastle. The bids were extraordinary,” he told Lidovky.
Now, Leeds are top of the Championship right now with Tyler Roberts stepping up in style against Preston in midweek, scoring twice in the injury-enforced absence of Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford.
So it would be a little unfair to suggest that Leeds will regret their failure to sign Krmencik. But the 25-year-old’s outstanding form means that director of football Victor Orta should keep him in his sights.

Krmencik shone on his Champions League debut on Wednesday night, scoring twice in a 2-2 draw with CSKA Moscow. His second goal was wonderfully taken, a stunning first time volley which took Krmencik’s tally to nine goals in seven games in 2018/19.
If the Czech international continues in this vein, expect him to be linked with a big-money move again in the New Year.
