George Saville appears to be on his way out of Millwall but which Championship leader will he join, Boro or Leeds United?

Leeds United have made a dream start to life under Marcelo Bielsa but tougher times lie ahead. The hectic Championship fixture schedule could cause major fatigue later down the line, particularly as Bielsa sides have a history of tiring after Christmas.
So, with just a few days left in the transfer window, Leeds could perhaps do with another central midfielder to ease the work load. And George Saville would tick a lot of boxes.
According to the Mail in early August, Leeds were interested in signing the Millwall midfielder, whose dynamism, energy and intelligence in possession would fit perfectly into Bielsa’s forward-thinking and fast-paced system.
But Leeds are now facing a race against time. Sky Sports claim that Middlesbrough are in talks to sign Saville on loan with a view to a permanent deal, which the Gazette believe could cost £5 million.

As it stands, Boro are Leeds’ closest challengers for promotion with the two clubs level in first place with 13 points each. A player like Saville could be the fine margin between finishing in the top two or missing out.
And, at £5 million, the 25-year-old is decent value in today’s market, particularly for a side like Leeds for whom keeping pace at the top of the table is absolutely priceless.
