Championship outfit Leeds United were reported to be in advanced negotiations to sign Oliver Norwood from Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion.

A week ago, The Sun reported that Leeds United were closing in on the signing of Oliver Norwood.
The Northern Ireland midfielder has been subject of transfer speculation all month and it was claimed that Leeds were in advanced negotiations to bring him to Elland Road. And, on paper, former Manchester United youngster Norwood looked like a good addition.
After all, he was won promotion from the Championship in each of the last two seasons; with Brighton in 2017 and on loan at Fulham in May.
But it won’t be Leeds who Norwood signs for this summer, with Sheffield United confirming on Monday afternoon that the midfielder has arrived on loan with the deal set to become permanent in January.
The 27-year-old is likely to replace Lee Evans, who left for Wigan Athletic, at Brammal Lane. But Leeds’ disappointment should surely be reduced by the excellent start to the season enjoyed by Mateusz Klich.

The Polish international featured in just four Championship games in a dreadful debut campaign before being loaned to Utrecht in January but has enjoyed a dream start to his second season. Klich has started both league games under Marcelo Bielsa and scored in both too, following his strike against Stoke with a wonderful long-range finish in the 4-1 battering of Derby County.
With Klich on song, Norwood simply isn’t needed at Elland Road.
