Championship high-flyers Leeds United were reportedly told they would have to pay £100k-a-week to sign the former Hull City striker Abel Hernandez.

At the start of the summer, Abel Hernandez looked set to become Leeds United’s marquee signing.
The Uruguayan international was due to leave Hull City with his contract expiring and the Yorkshire Evening Post reported that he was initially Leeds’ number one striker target. But, although Hernandez was a free agent, that does not mean he would have come cheap.
The YEP added that the former Palermo man was demanding a massive £100,000-a-week package to move to Elland Road – demands that inevitably priced him out of a move.
But did Leeds dodge a bullet? Or miss out on the man who could have fired them into the Premier League? As it stands, it seems the former is the more accurate statement.
Because Hernandez has hardly set the world alight since he signed a contract with CSKA Moscow. A tally of two goals in six league appearances is far from impressive, and it seems the injury issues that kept him on the sidelines for much of the last two years at Hull have struck again.

Hernandez has not been seen since September, missing the last nine games in all competitions with a hip problem.
Fortunately for Leeds, Kemar Roofe has stepped up this season with six goals in nine Championship games, while Tyler Roberts has impressed when given a chance. The £8 million man Patrick Bamford is set to return in the New Year after a long-term injury.
