Leeds United drew 0-0 with fellow Championship table-toppers Middlesbrough on Friday night with Peacock-Farrell keeping a clean sheet at Elland Road.

There has been plenty of talk in the aftermath of Leeds United goalless draw against Middlesbrough on Friday night about Tony Pulis’s perceived spoiling tactics and the performance of referee Tim Robinson.

But one man who surely deserves his spot in the limelight is Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

The young goalkeeper made his first appearance for the senior side in two years as recently as March, and it is testament to his performances that he has not missed a Championship game since.

The highly-rated Jamal Blackman was signed on loan from Chelsea over the summer but, if Peacock-Farrell continues to perform, he will not get a look-in any time soon.

Because the Darlington-born stopper produced arguably his finest display of the season in Friday’s top of the table clash. Up against a Boro side renowned for their strength in the air and their penchant for set pieces, Peacock-Farrell dominated the penalty area, claimed countless high balls and made one or two excellent reflex saves.

Just imagine if Felix Wiedwald had started between the sticks. Meat and drink for Daniel Ayala and co.

It is easy to forget that Peacock-Farrell, a ‘keeper so confident in his role and at ease in this high-flying Leeds team, is just 21 years of age. Watching such a young, rookie stopper scream at his defenders and organise his teammates from the back is a joy to behold.

He has been Leeds’ unsung hero so far in an excellent 2018/19 and he can only get better as long as Marcelo Bielsa sticks around.
