Lee Hodson doesn’t often play for Scottish Premiership giants Rangers but his versatility could come in handy to Graeme Murty at Ibrox.

Since signing from MK Dons in the summer of 2016, the Northern Ireland right-back has played just 16 league games for the club, with neither Mark Warburton, Pedro Caixinha or Graeme Murty trusting him to be first choice.
But maybe Rangers should be a little wary about letting the seldom-seen Hodson go. After all, there is something of a shortage of full-backs at Murty’s disposal and surely the club must have some replacements lined up before they trim their squad.

James Tavernier has been fantastic at right-back this season, playing 38 games, scoring seven and assisting nine, but there is no obvious replacement should the former Newcastle United man get injured or suspended – apart from Hodson that is.
The 26-year-old former Watford man is also capable of swapping flanks and filling in on the left, which could come in handy with Lee Wallace struggling with injuries for much of this season.

Hodson is far from a regular starter but he is the kind of versatile, back-up utility man that comes in handy for every team now and again.
Finding a player of his ilk will be a challenge for Murty and director of football Mark Allen should Hodson be allowed to depart with a year remaining on his contract.
