Will Leander Dendoncker really leave Wolverhampton Wanderers after just three Premier League games.
At the start of January, Leander Dendoncker’s future at Wolverhampton Wanderers looked up in the air.
The Belgium international, a summer signing on loan from Anderlecht, had struggled for opportunities under Nuno Espirito Santo at Molineux and it seemed that he could be off after just a few months in England.
Fox Sports claimed that Dendoncker wanted to leave in the mid-season transfer window with Roma on the lookout for a deep-lying midfielder.
Two weeks on, however, and the 23-year-old doesn’t sound like a man who is angling for a move. Dendoncker has belatedly forced his way into the XI, starting clashes against Liverpool and Manchester City in league and cup.
And it appears that he is looking forward to establishing himself in the Black Country rather than packing his bags for Rome.
“During the last couple of weeks, I’ve played some games, so it feels really good to be part of the team, to be part of everything,” Dendoncker told the club’s official website.
“I’m looking forward to keeping on going.”
According to Goal, Wolves are expected to make Dendoncker’s loan deal permanent next summer for £12 million. And he has four more months of the season remaining to prove that he is worth every penny.
More performances like the one in the 2-1 FA Cup win against Liverpool wouldn’t be a bad place to start.
