Kyle Lafferty would jump at the chance to re-join Rangers this summer following his unsurprising release by Norwich City.

Kyle Lafferty was hardly subtle about his desire to return to Rangers this summer, five years after he jumped from a sinking ship beset by a financial crisis and demoted to the fourth tier.
“I still have a lot of great memories and I would like to go back and play for Rangers again one day,” Northern Ireland’s talismanic striker told the Daily Record in April.
And unsurprisingly Lafferty’s sudden desire to make an emotional return to Ibrox divided the Rangers fan base.
Some have not quite forgiven the forward for the leaving when the club needed him most and, from a more logical perspective, his scoring record in the last few years is far from prolific.
Since signing for Norwich City in 2014, Lafferty has featured in 31 league games and mustered just two goals as he failed to make an impression on either Chris Hughton or Alex Neil.
On the other hand, however, Lafferty is a free agent following his release at the end of the 2016/17 season and Rangers are crying out for attacking reinforcements.

Nevertheless, it is about six weeks since the 29-year-old issued one of the least low-key come-and-get-me-pleas of the window.
And, so far, it appears that Rangers have shown no interest in making his dream return into a reality.
Instead, The Express claims that manager Pedro Caixinha is plotting a reunion with Eduardo Herrera, the Pumas UNAM forward who scored for fun under the Portuguese boss during a loan spell at Santos Laguna.
Furthermore, the Scottish Sun add that Louis Moult is also on Rangers’ wishlist after hitting 15 goals in 31 games for Motherwell in 2016/17.

The closest Lafferty appears to a move, however, is via a shock switch to Azerbaijani champions Qarabag, who are aiming to splash the cash to make an impression in the Champions League next season, as reported by the Belfast Telegraph.
The Rangers ship may have sailed.
