Chris Wilder has taken Sheffield United to the top of the Championship and he should surely be identified as a potential Steve Bruce replacement.

It is about time Chris Wilder got recognition for his achievements in the Football League.
Wilder took Northampton Town from the bottom of League Two to the fourth-tier title in just over two years before taking over at Sheffield United and transforming his boyhood club both on and off the pitch.
In Wilder’s first season at Bramall Lane, the Blades cruised to the League One title with 100 points and 92 goals. Sheffield United then took to life in the Championship like a duck to water under the 51-year-old and are currently third in the table, level on points with Leeds United and Middlesbrough.
Tony Cascarino has now identified Wilder as an ideal replacement for Steve Bruce at Aston Villa.
“They’re wrong! That’s wrong,” Cascarino, who played for Aston Villa in 1990/91, told Jim White on talkSPORT (4 October, 11:00am) when it was suggested that the Midlands club would not consider a manager like Wilder.

“I have got bias cause I know Chris Wilder well. Just go look at his CV. Northampton, over 100 points, took them up. Went to Sheffield United, languishing in League One and took them up in incredible style.
“What’s he doing this season at Sheffield United, on a minimal budget by the way? They’ve got a great manager there.”
A number of Aston Villa fans took to Twitter after Bruce’s sacking on Wednesday, demanding Wilder be considered by owners Naseef Sawiris and Wes Edens.
There aren’t many better managers around who are as impressive as Wilder when it comes to transforming a side into one greater than the sum of its parts. So perhaps Wilder is the man to help a gifted side realise their massive potential.
