La Liga outfit Villarreal will travel to Ibrox on Thursday looking to beat Rangers in the Europa League

Manu Trigueros could be giving Rangers manager Steven Gerrard sleepless nights ahead of Thursday’s crucial Europa League clash against Villarreal at Ibrox.

The three-time Spain international looked set to miss the trip to Glasgow this week but, in a big blow for Gerrard and co, has now been passed fit and looks set to feature in a game that pits third against first in Group G, as reported by the Daily Record.

And Trigueros could be the most gifted midfielder Gerrard has come up against in his short managerial career to date.

A technically gifted playmaker, the 27-year-old will be integral to Villarreal’s possession-based game plan and, if he gets time and space to dictate the play, Rangers could find themselves feeding off scraps.

So Lassana Coulibaly could face perhaps the toughest test of his time at the Scottish giants, should Gerrard reinstate the Angers loanee into the starting XI.

Coulibaly has been out of the team of late due to a combination of injuries and dodgy form but his energy and tenacity could be key if Rangers are to disrupt the rhythm of their La Liga opposition, and Trigueros in particular.

Whether Rangers will attempt to sign Coulibaly at the end of his loan spell remains to be seen. But if he can help inspire a famous win against quality opposition at Ibrox, this will do his reputation no harm at all.
