Liverpool are reportedly hoping to raid Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion for Pascal Gross.

Pascal Gross has been one of the best value signings anywhere in the Premier League in recent seasons.

Brighton and Hove Albion paid just £3 million to sign the German midfielder from FC Ingolstadt in the summer of 2017 and he was integral as Chris Hughton’s side survived their first ever Premier League season, scoring seven times and assisting a further eight goals in the top flight.

Injuries have restricted Gross to just seven starts in his second season but, according to The Mirror, this has not prevented Liverpool from holding an interest.

It is understood that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the intelligent midfielder and will attempt to sign him in the January transfer window with the former Borussia Dortmund boss considering a £15 million bid.

And it’s fair to say Klopp is a big fan of Gross, admitting that he has been keeping an eye on the 27-year-old since his early days in German football.

“I have known him since he was a kid. He is a fantastic player that has made another big step physical wise,” Klopp said last December in quotes reported by The Mirror.

“He has a nice right foot, is good at set-pieces and a nice shooter. He is a smart player and I like him.”

Liverpool fans might be feeling underwhelmed by suggestions that Gross could be their big January signing but the success of Xherdan Shaqiri at Anfield means they can expect Klopp to get the best out of the Seagulls star.
