Leeds United have been linked with a move for Bristol City defender Aden Flint, but perhaps Angus Kinnear’s comments hint that they may miss out.
According to a report from the Bristol Post at the end of last week, Bristol City defender Aden Flint is set to move on in the coming days with an unnamed club apparently winning the race for his signature.
With the Bristol Post reporting that Leeds are one of the sides interested in the centre-back, Whites fans may have been hoping that they could be the ones about to win the race for the 28-year-old – though Birmingham City are also keen on Flint, according to the Post.

But perhaps Leeds managing director Angus Kinnear’s comments to BBC Radio Leeds just drop the slightest hint that the Whites are not the side reportedly on the verge of taking Flint away from Ashton Gate.
Ahead of the Championship curtain-raiser against Bolton on Sunday, Kinnear was asked whether Leeds were likely to make anymore additions to their senior squad before they take on the Trotters, and his answer certainly suggested that Thomas Christiansen would not have any new faces to pick from for that particular game.
“I think based on the Oxford performance, we’ve got more than enough strength in depth to cope with Bolton,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.
With that in mind, it would surely be fair to suggest that if the plan is still for Flint to move on in the coming days, it would be a major surprise if it was Leeds who were currently set to win the race.
However, it could also be suggested that if the unnamed club was Birmingham, then perhaps the race is still alive as BBC Sport have more recently reported that the Blues have seen a bid for Flint rejected, so perhaps the previously nearly-done deal – if it did involve the Blues – is not as far down the line as previously thought.
