Celtic reportedly want to sign left-back Greg Taylor from Kilmarnock as Kieran Tierney’s replacement and Gary Dicker isn’t happy.

The Greg Taylor to Celtic links aren’t going anywhere and Kilmarnock captain Gary Dicker has admitted to Sportsround (19 August) that he is dreading the day when his highly-rated teammate bids farewell to Rugby Park.

Despite rising through the ranks at Old Firm rivals Rangers, Taylor has emerged as one of Celtic’s top targets in the final few weeks of the transfer window.

According to the Daily Record, the Hoops sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old in action during Killie’s 1-0 League Cup win against Hamilton over the weekend with Taylor lined up to step into the void created by Kieran Tierney’s move to Arsenal.

Celtic are certainly lacking quality on the left-hand side without their irrepressible academy graduate and things don’t look good for £3 million Boli Bolingoli, who wasn’t even trusted to start that infamous defeat to Cluj a week ago.

And talk of Taylor’s departure has certainly given Dicker a few sleepless nights.

“Yeah, you do,” Dicker admitted when asked if he was worried that the Scotland international would leave for Celtic. “You always want to keep your best players, but people outgrow clubs at times.

“If he’s here for the season I’d be delighted but if he can get a big move I don’t think anyone would begrudge him, especially with the age he’s at.”

Attack-minded, technically gifted and proven at the top level of Scottish football, it doesn’t take a genius to work out why Celtic are such big fans of Taylor.

The Daily Record reported recently that Killie could be tempted to sell for around £1 million. That, for what it’s worth, is just 1/25th of the sum Celtic brought in for Tierney.
