Rangers let Liam Kelly join Scottish Premiership newcomers Livingston in the summer, but could he one day return to Ibrox as Allan McGregor’s replacement?

Allan McGregor had returned to Ibrox from Hull City after all, while Wes Foderingham offers experience and quality in reserve. Kelly, then, would have been stuck well down the pecking order at the Glasgow giants.
Nonetheless, he certainly proved a point to his former employers on Sunday. Kelly impressed with not only his reflexes but his distribution, too, as Livi beat Rangers 1-0 in West Lothian.
Former Rangers striker Kenny Miller, who spent a short spell as Livingston’s caretaker manager at the start of this season, has now told the BBC how highly he rates the 22-year-old Kelly.
“He’s excellent with the ball at his feet. He’s a proper modern-day goalkeeper,” said Miller, who is now at Dundee.
“I’ve known him a long time. He’s only young. He’s an absolutely excellent goalkeeper. He’s got the most clean sheets in the Premiership. He’s number one.”
Rangers fans took to Twitter recently to point out that Kelly should be brought back to Ibrox if he continues to star between the sticks at Livingston. McGregor is 36, after all, and out of contract next summer, meaning he is probably just a short-term solution.
Kelly, meanwhile, has the talent and the potential to be Rangers’ number one for years so Kenny Miller’s praise should not go unnoticed.
