Premier League big spenders Aston Villa have reportedly turned their attention to Kasimpasa’s Egyptian star Mahmoud Hassan.
Aston Villa have indeed made an offer for Egyptian international Mahmoud ‘Trezeguet’ Hassan, Kasimpasa’s vice president Hasan Hilmi Oksuz has told Aksam.
It seems only a matter of time before newly promoted Villa break the £100 million barrier in this summer’s transfer window, having paid big to bring the likes of Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and Wesley Moraes to the Midlands on permanent deals. And Trezeguet looks like the latest priority.
According to the Mirror (11 July, page 63), manager Dean Smith and sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch scouted Trezeguet on three separate occasions during the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Egypt with Aston Villa willing to pay up to £10 million for the speedy forward, as reported by the Sun.
Yet even £10 million won’t be enough to convince Kasimpasa to sell.
“The official offer came from Aston Villa and another British team,” Oksuz said.
“One offered 5 million euros (£4.5m) and the other club offered 7.5 million euros (£6.7m). The club is not considering accepting bids for less than 15 million euros (£13.5m) for Trezeguet.”
It remains a mystery who that other ‘British team’ are, though The Mirror added that both Everton and Watford are interested in a player who produced nine goals and ten assists for Kasimpasa last season.
However, given how much Villa have spent this summer, it seems unlikely that they will baulk at £13.5 million for a player who has clearly caught the eye of Dean Smith.
