Spurs have struggled in the Premier League and Mauricio Pochettino faces a daunting Champions League battle with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is under no illusions that the Bundesliga champions must be at their best when they travel to North London for next week’s Champions League clash against Tottenham Hotspur, speaking to the club’s official website.
It has been a miserable start to the season for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
A 4-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace was supposed to spark Spurs into life but, instead, they have followed that convincing win with a draw against Olympiakos, a loss to Leicester and a penalty shoot-out defeat to third-tier Colchester United in the EFL Cup.
So a glamour tie with German giants Bayern gives Tottenham the perfect chance to silence the doubters, although that will be easier said than done against a side containing the illustrious talents of Thiago, Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowksi, who has 11 goals in eight games this season.
Yet Rummenigge was still full of praise for Spurs, and their space-age new stadium, as he celebrates his 64th birthday on Friday.
“Yes (Tottenham are our first real test of the season). There are two reasons for that. Firstly they got to the final last year, and secondly it has to be said that the Premier League is stronger than the Bundesliga at the moment,” Rummenigge said.

“We’ll need a good performance there. I’m looking forward to the game. It’s a great stadium – the most expensive in the world, at any rate. It’ll be my first time there but London is always worth the journey.”
Bayern are not the fearsome force they once were, however, with Liverpool cruising to a 3-1 win at the Allianz Arena in last season’s Champions League knockout stage.
Questions continue to be asked of Niko Kovac, who’s pragmatic tactics have left plenty of fans frustrated, while neither Arjen Robben nor Franck Ribery are wearing are bamboozling full-backs in the famous red shirt these days either.
