Liverpool are hoping to lure Lyon’s Ligue 1 wonder-kid Houssem Aouar to the Premier League despite interest from La Liga heavyweights Barcelona.

It seems that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has his heart set on a certain type of midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window.
And like Napoli metronome Jorginho and Real Madrid’s seldom-seen starlet Dani Ceballos, the 19-year-old possesses that rare ability to control a game from the centre of the park, both dictating tempo and opening up opposition defences with a moment of inspiration.

Aouar is certainly a special talent. One that fellow Frenchman and one-time Lyon graduate Karim Benzema believes can make it all the way to the top.
“Aouar? He is the new star of Lyon and the next generation of the club. His beautiful season only confirms what I said about him,” Le 10 Sport quoted from the Real Madrid striker who, like Aouar, has Algerian descent.
He is a very good player.I know him, I really like the player. He can go far.”

So Liverpool will have a tough task on their hands signing a player who, despite only making his Ligue 1 debut 11 months ago, already looks like a midfielder with genuinely world-class potential.
If Benzema’s comment are anything to go by, Liverpool should make Aouar a priority.
