Juventus’ reported interest shows Everton have a star in Henry Onyekuru

Henry Onyekuru only joined Everton in June but is already on the radar of Serie A giants Juventus.

There was barely a club in Europe who were not linked with Henry Onyekuru at some point over the summer.

The KAS Eupen striker made his first foray into the gossip columns when Celtic had a £1 million bid rejected in January, per the Scottish Sun. And, between the winter and the end of the season, countless clubs from Spain, Germany and the English Premier League were reported to be interested in a player whose 22 goals in 2016/17 made him one of Europe’s hottest prospects.

Everton looked to have pulled off a real coup, then, when they lured Onyekuru to Goodison Park on a £7 million deal in June, as reported by the BBC. And if they wanted any further proof that they had a real star on their hands, reported interest from Serie A giants Juventus speaks volumes.

According to Calciomercato, Juve will scout Onyekuru in action for Nigeria over the international break with CEO Beppe Marotta keen to keep a close eye on the 20-year-old.

Onyekuru is spending the current season on loan with Anderlecht due to work permit issues that have prevented him making an immediate move to England. And a tally of five goals in 12 games means he has only enhanced his reputation further.

Juve are renowned for scouting and discovering some of the world’s hottest young talent, having brought enigmatic wonderkids like Paul Pogba, Paulo Dybala (below), Federico Bernardeschi and 17-year-old superstar-in-waiting Moise Kean to Turin in recent years.

If the Serie A champions believe Onyekuru is worth keeping an eye on despite boasting one of the most fearsome attacks in European football, Everton managing to pick him up for just £7 million in the summer now looks an even better signing.
