Glasgow Rangers have made a bold move to lure Scott McTominay on loan from Manchester United.

Scott McTominay is so highly-rated within the walls of Old Trafford that even a short-term loan move to Rangers in January appears doubtful.
The Sun reported on Sunday that the Scottish giants were hoping to convince United to send either McTominay or 19-year-old midfielder Ethan Hamilton to Ibrox in January in order to aid them in their development via regular first-team football.
While a deal for Hamilton seems possible with the former Under-18 captain yet to make his mark in the first team, it appears United boss Jose Mourinho would be unwilling to loan McTominay out in the New Year.

According to the Daily Record, the 20-year-old is part of Mourinho’s first-team plans this season after impressing hugely in his four previous appearances in 2017/18.
And the manager’s comments when McTominay signed a new contract until 2021 back in October show just how highly he is rated at the Premier League giants.
“I am delighted Scott has signed a new contract, he is one of our young players that has gone from strength to strength,” Mourinho told ESPN of the Lancashire-born midfielder, who has been with the club since the age of five.

“I had no hesitation in promoting Scott to the first-team squad last month as we have total belief in him.”
McTominay appears to be one of the most exciting talents to emerge from United’s famous academy in many a year. And with first-team opportunities on the horizon, it is not as if he needs to spend six-months at Ibrox in order to build up his reputation.
But if Rangers could tempt Mourinho and United into doing a deal, they would be pulling off a real eye-catching coup.
