Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has told the Liverpool Echo that the Reds’ climb to the top of the Premier League table is largely due to the irresistible form of ‘world class’ attacking trio Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Phillipe Coutinho.

Liverpool rose to top spot on Sunday afternoon, after a masterful attacking display inspired Jurgen Klopp’s side to a thumping 6-1 victory over Walter Mazarri’s Watford at Anfield.

The Reds have now netted 30 goals so far this season, the club’s highest ever tally after 11 games, and their fruitful form in front of goal is largely down to the attacking exploits of deadly forward trio Mane, Firmino and Coutinho.

All three players were on target during Sunday’s demolition of the Hornets, and the intrepid trio now sit level at the top of Liverpool’s individual goal-scoring charts for the season with six goals a piece.

Skipper Henderson has been taken aback by the exceptional early season form of Liverpool’s front three, and the former Sunderland academy graduate believes that the ‘unstoppable’ trio have already proved themselves to be world class players.

“I see them every day and for me they are world class players,” the 26-year-old told the Liverpool Echo.

“It’s a pleasure to be playing with them. It’s our job to ensure that we offer protection for them when they are going forward and expressing themselves.

“As a team I feel as though we have a lot of quality and in the final third they’ve been brilliant.

“It’s their understanding of the game, not only going forward, but also the work rate they all give for the team in terms of pressing and winning the ball back high up the pitch.

“They all help the team defensively. The three of them are fantastic at that and then going forward they are unstoppable when they are on it.

“It was very good from them against Watford but then I thought we were very good throughout the whole team.”

The devastating form of Firmino, Mane and Coutinho has led some fans to compare the current Liverpool front line to the front three of Raheem Sterling, Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge whose goals came agonisingly close to ending the club’s 26-year wait for a league title, however Henderson is reluctant to draw comparisons:

“They are all fantastic players. Every single one of them is top class,” the England international said. “I don’t really like comparing this team to a couple of seasons ago.

“I prefer to concentrate on this team and what we’re good at and what we’re doing. That’s the most important thing. The team of 2013/14 is in the past.”

Liverpool are currently the Premier League’s must-see side, with the Reds’ incisive attacking football laying waste to practically all who come before them, as former Borussia Dortmund mastermind Klopp’s unique footballing philosophy finally starts to take shape out on the pitch.

The current international break has arrived at an inopportune moment for Klopp’s rampant Merseysiders. However the eccentric 49-year-old will use the next two weeks to fine-tune his tactical approach ahead of Liverpool’s return to league action at Southampton on November 19, as the Reds continue the hunt for their first league title in over 26 years.
