Troy Deeney worked with Toffees head coach Marco Silva last season with Watford but could a reunion happen at Everton?

Cenk Tosun went some way to quietening his critics on Saturday. The £27 million striker finally scored his first goal of the season in Everton’s impressive 3-0 win against Fulham on Saturday, but whether he should be seen as the Toffees’ long-term first-choice centre forward remains up for debate.
Tosun has had his moments since his big-money move from Besiktas in January, but the Turkish international has endured a couple of difficult outings this season, missing a host of chances and being heavily criticised by some supporters.
Former Everton defender Joleon Lescott believes that finding an upgrade for Tosun should be Everton’s priority in 2019; and he has recommended one player Marco Silva knows well.
“I think it’s fair to say the Premier League has proved difficult for Tosun and you could say he’s yet to show he is good enough at this level,” former England international Lescott told Bwin.
“I would love to see Everton make a move for Troy Deeney.

“He is proven in the Premier League and you know exactly what you’re going to get from him every week. Deeney would score goals for Everton and make it very difficult for defenders to ever have a moment’s peace.”
Deeney worked with Marco Silva during the 41-year-old’s time in charge at Vicarage Road last season but was far from a regular under the Portuguese. The 30-year-old only found his form again once Javi Gracia had replaced Silva at the helm.
The Hornets skipper has enjoyed a fine start to 2018/19, bullying defenders and forming a fine partnership with Andre Gray, even if he has scored just twice in seven games.
