Championship side Aston Villa are reportedly in negotiations to make Thierry Henry their new manager with former captain John Terry potentially his assistant.
Two Premier League legends could be about to forge a shock managerial partnership at Aston Villa.
According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa are in advanced negotiations with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and the former France striker is due to hold further talks this week about potentially replacing Steve Bruce at the Championship club.
And it is expected that he will be aided by John Terry, the 37-year-old who captained Villa to the play-off final last season and who retired on Sunday.
As such, it is interesting to note what Terry said about Henry having come up against the Gunners great on several occasions during a trophy-laden career at Chelsea.
“He was terrifying. He was the best by far. He had everything, the movement. He was incredible,” said the former England skipper in quotes reported by the Birmingham Mail.
“He would be the one before games, I’d say, ‘it’s going to be tough tomorrow.’ Nobody else did that.”
It seems that Henry had quite the impact off the pitch as well as on it. And that should stand the 41-year-old in good stead as he aims to get his managerial career off the ground.
With fellow Premier League legends Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard enjoying an impressive transition into the dugout, it will be very interesting to find out how Henry and Terry get on at Aston Villa.
