Kenny Miller’s Rangers future is uncertain after the striker got on the wrong side of manager Pedro Caixinha.

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha is seen prior to the Betfred League Cup Quarter Final at Firhill Stadium on September 19, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Drama seems to follow Pedro Caixinha. The Portuguese tactician, who likened himself to none other than the devil when appointed back in March, has been at the centre of a number of high-profile flashpoints with senior players during his seven months at Ibrox.

And, after the likes of Rob Kiernan and Harry Forrester left under a cloud, it seems even club legend Kenny Miller is not safe from Caixinha’s wrath. According to the Daily Record, the 37-year-old striker was omitted from trip to Hamilton on Friday and instead forced to join the Under-20s for their clash with Brentford on Sunday.

The report adds that Caixinha was unhappy with Miller taking the armband when coming off the bench against Celtic last week, seeing it as an act of disobedience. Therefore, rumours are already swirling that the former Scotland striker has played his last game for the club he was represented on three occasions since 2000.

History repeating itself?

And former Gers hero Jimmy Nicholl has likened the situation to a famous flashpoint 30 years ago when manager Graeme Souness omitted Graham Roberts after the defender refused to accept defeat for a mistake against Aberdeen.

“If Graham (below, left) had knocked on the manager’s door he might have played again. He didn’t and that meant he had played his last game for Rangers,” Nicholl, who was placed in charge of Roberts when he was sent to play for the reserves, told the Daily Record.

“I don’t know enough about what happened to say how it will end for Kenny but for him to play for Rangers again the situation has to be resolved. We’re talking about two grown men, so they can sort it out.

“If I was a senior player in that dressing room and I thought Kenny was in the wrong I’d tell him to go and knock on the manager’s door. Others might think he’s right in whatever happened or whatever he said but you would still say ‘Go and rap his door and sort it out’.

“I just hope they can resolve their differences.”

It would certainly be a sad end to a stories Rangers career.
