Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United have reportedly decided to keep Mateusz Klich in the Championship but does Jermaine Beckford agree with this call?

Jermaine Beckford insists Leeds United simply must tie Mateusz Klich down to a new contract, telling Football League World that the Poland international will be ‘like a new signing’ at Elland Road.
A player who appeared to have no future in West Yorkshire under Paul Heckingbottom and Thomas Christiansen has been arguably the biggest beneficiary of Marcelo Bielsa’s arrival in the summer of 2018.
Formerly a forgotten man, Klich is now one of the first names on the team sheet, scoring ten goals and producing nine assists as Leeds narrowly missed out on automatic promotion last season.
The one-time FC Twente star is due to become a free agent next summer as things stand however but TEAMtalk claims that the Whites are hoping to extend his contract for at least another 12 months.
And Beckford has backed that decision.
“He’s another player that has been vitally important to the Leeds United team,” said a striker who scored that famous FA Cup winner away at Manchester United in 2010.

“He always seems to put himself in the right place at the right times. He makes very few mistakes and he’s also a very exciting player.
“I think getting him to sign a new deal will only help to boost the confidence around the place that little bit more. That’s like another new signing.”
Klich is yet to play at his very best in the opening weeks of the 2019/20 campaign, however, with his only goal in seven games coming against Salford City in the EFL Cup – albeit via a trademark right footed blast into the top corner.
The 29-year-old is at his most dangerous when making those late bursts into the penalty area but he is yet to really drum up a convincing partnership with Patrick Bamford following the departure of Kemar Roofe.
