Premier League duo Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers were reportedly hoping to sign Jean-Kevin Augustin from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.
It is one month now since the Sun linked Everton and Wolves with a move for RB Leipzig striker Jean-Kevin Augustin.
The report stated that the Premier League duo had identified the former Paris Saint Germain forward as the man to take the pressure of Richarlison, Raul Jimenez and co.
It is understood that Everton and Wolves made contact with Leipzig about a potential deal to bring Augustin to England. The Bundesliga outfit made it clear that they wouldn’t stand in his way – but were demanding a massive £38 million.
So maybe this is why Augustin is still in Germany, three weeks after the transfer window slammed shut. But how is he getting on since? Is he starring for Leipzig and justifying his £38 million price-tag?
Not exactly.
The 21-year-old has struggled for game-time this season due to the fine form of Timo Werner and Danish international Youssouf Poulsen and his lack of opportunities have continued after the winter break.
Since the Bundesliga resumed, Augustin has played just 11 minutes of football across three substitute appearances. To make matters worse, he was left on the bench for Leipzig’s last two games.
