Turkish Super Lig champions Besiktas look set to sell defender Dusko Tosic, who is on the radar of both Celtic and Premier League club Crystal Palace.

Besiktas' Dusko Tosic celebrates after scoring a goal during the Turkish Super Lig football match between Besiktas and Galatasaray on December 2, 2017 at Vodafone Park Stadium in Istanbul.

With a week to until the transfer window slams shut, itis a surprise that Dusko Tosic is still a Besiktas player.

The experienced defender was expected to leave this month amid interest from a number of clubs in Britain, and it appeared that the Turkish champions had paved the way for his exit by signing Croatian international Domagoj Vida as a replacement.

But after reported approaches from both Celtic and Crystal Palace in the last few days, Turkish publication Aksam states that a move now looks inevitable before next Wednesday’s deadline.

It is understood that the 32-year-old, who has won the Super Lig in each of his two seasons with Besiktas, has seen his demands of a pay increase turned down, and will now step up his attempts to leave Istanbul.

This latest development should be of interest to a number of suitors.

This time last week, Gunes stated that Besiktas president Fikret Orman had travelled to London to negotiate a deal with Crystal Palace with Roy Hodgson’s side keen to open talks about signing the 32-year-old Serb.

This came shortly after Celtic reportedly saw a bid of £2.5 million rejected for Tosic, who can play at centre-half or left-back and looks capable of filling holes in The Hoops’ rather thin defence.

It remains to be seen whether Palace are still interested, however, after completing the singing of Polish international Jaroslav Jach from Zaglebie Lubin this week.

Fotomac claimed that both Everton and Leicester City were also interested and, with the duo both seemingly in the market for defensive reinforcements, there should be no shortage of suitors for Tosic over the next week.
