Rangers brought Jamie Murphy to Ibrox from Brighton and Hove Albion in January and he has impressed in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers look to have pulled off one of the best pieces of business in Scottish football by landing Jamie Murphy on loan from Brighton in the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old winger has had a hand in six goals in just nine games since returning to his homeland a few days after the turn of the year. And Rangers fans will be glad to hear that Murphy will be more than happy to remain at Ibrox beyond the end of the season.

“I expect to be here next season, absolutely. I’m already a Rangers player in my mind,” the former Motherwell talent told the Daily Record.

Fortunately, the publication adds that the Scottish giants already have a deal in place to make Murphy’s loan move permanent, and the agreed £1.4 million transfer fee is already looking a bargain.

The former Scotland U21 star may not have been the most consistent player in Graeme Murty’s squad since his arrival. But his natural ability and creative talents add so much to a squad that were lacking in pace and cutting edge before his arrival two months ago.

Murphy at his best is one of the brightest talents in Scotland and, if the recent Old Firm clash with Celtic is anything to go by, supporters should look forward to a burgeoning partnership with the rampaging Declan John down the Rangers left.

£1.4 million is not an insignificant figure to Rangers, but Murphy has already shown that he could be worth every single penny.
