Championship promotion hopefuls West Bromwich Albion reportedly scouted Rangers captain James Tavernier recently.

Rangers’ season has gone slightly awry in recent weeks. And James Tavernier has become something of a scapegoat among fans who have been left baffled by a series of dreadful defensive performances.
The right-back has not been at his best for a number of weeks now, and he was caught cold on numerous occasions as Rangers threw away the lead three times to lose 4-3 to Spartak Moscow in the Europa League on Thursday.
Tavernier’s defensive nous has been questioned for some time, and the 27-year-old’s right to captain this Rangers side has been under the microscope by some seriously unimpressed supporters.
So this is a warning to West Brom.

The Daily Record reported recently that the Baggies have renewed their interest in the player, scouting him during Rangers’ Scottish League Cup semi-final defeat to Aberdeen.
This comes three months after TEAMtalk reported that West Brom had seen a £3 million summer bid turned down.
But is Tavernier really good enough for a West Brom side whose back line is their well-publicised Achilles heel; a penchant for conceding soft goals seemingly casting their promotion ambitions into doubt?
