Glasgow Rangers defender James Tavernier has been linked with Everton among other clubs, but the Ibrox right-back is looking forward to working with new Gers manager Steven Gerrard.
Rangers defender James Tavernier is one of the best players in the Scottish Premiership, and it is no surprise that Everton, Burnley and Swansea City have been linked with him.
According to The Mirror, Premier League trio Everton, Burnley and Swansea are interested in signing Tavernier from Rangers in the summer transfer window (click here to read more).
However, the former Wigan Athletic star’s latest comments suggest that he may not leave Rangers, as he seems eager to work with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
Former Liverpool and England international midfielder Gerrard has been appointed the Rangers manager and will take charge of the first team from next month.
Tavernier told The Daily Record: “It has been an exciting few days to hear Steven will be our new gaffer.
“I’m really looking forward to working with him next season. And it’s great for the club too.”
Quality footballer
Tavernier is one of the best right-backs in the Scottish Premiership, and Rangers will be wise to keep hold of the former Newcastle United man.
The 26-year-old has made 33 Scottish Premiership appearances for Rangers this season, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists in the process, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
The right-back moved to Rangers from Wigan in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £200,000.
