Celtic travel to Hamilton Academical for Saturday’s early Scottish Premiership clash, with Hoops winger James Forrest in the form of his life.
Hamilton Academical lost 4-0 to St Johnstone in their final game before the international break and a similarly error-strewn defensive performance simply cannot happen if they are to get anything against Celtic this weekend.
Brendan Rodgers’ champions are to travel to the New Douglas Park for Saturday’s early fixture, hoping to retain their place at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
And with James Forrest in the form of his life right now, anything seems possible. The winger has scored nine times for Celtic already in 2018/19 before netting five goals for Scotland during the November international break, including a clinical hat-trick in the crucial Nations League victory against Israel.
Speaking to the Daily Record, Accies forward James Keatings admits that Hamilton must do everything they can to stop his former Celtic academy team-mate from continuing his purple patch.
“I played with James, coming through at Celtic, so I know what he’s capable of,” said Keatings, who was with The Hoops between 2008 and 2013.
“He is on a hot streak of form just now.
“Jamesie will want to continue that, so it’s up to us to implement our game plan and see if we can stop him.
“Our aim in each game is to get as many points as we can, and it will be the same on Saturday — we want to win the game.”
There will be long odds on Hamilton claiming a famous win against Celtic, however, with Martin Canning’s side sitting third from bottom in the table right now, having picked up just 10 points from 13 games so far.
Only Dundee have conceded more than Hamilton’s 30 goals too, meaning Forrest will be licking his lips on the journey to South Lanarkshire.
