Jack Harrison has started 24 Championship games for Leeds United this season, on loan from Premier League champions Manchester City.

Jack Harrison has paid tribute to Marcelo Bielsa’s unique approach to management as the winger continues to establish himself as a key player in Leeds United’s promotion bid, while speaking to the Manchester Evening News.

At the age of just 22, Harrison can count himself lucky to have already worked under two of the most innovative and influential managers in the modern era.

He spent pre-season learning from Pep Guardiola at Manchester City before joining Leeds on loan in the summer; a move that saw the Stoke-born wide man link up with the legendary and famously quirky Bielsa.

Harrison, who has started 24 Championship games under the former Argentina boss, says there are plenty of differences between Guardiola and Bielsa despite the similar nature of their playing styles.

“In terms of how the training sessions are conducted (Pep and Bielsa) are completely different, which is interesting because the outcome is the same,” said Harrison, who had a spell in Manchester United’s academy as a youngster.

“(Bielsa’s training sessions) are very different from anything I’ve done before. There’s a lot of specific work on movements and players. As a player you do things naturally but Marcelo breaks things down for you, he gives you detailed movements that can help you out significantly in a game.

“You don’t realise when he’s telling you but in the game you realise it’s happening. He breaks down a game into each segment and it’s so detailed and intelligent. I don’t think any other manager things like that. It’s been great to work with him and see a different perspective on football.”

With less than two months left this season, Leeds’ hopes of automatic promotion are in the balance while Harrison’s future is also uncertain.

It looks unlikely that he would have any chance of forcing his way into Manchester City’s star-studded attack so a permanent move to Elland Road would make sense.
