Former Chelsea goalkeeper Daniel Jinadu moved to West Ham United in January and starred in the Premier League U18 win against Reading.
For the first time this season, West Ham United’s U18 side kept a clean sheet from the first minute to the last.
Jack Collison’s youngsters were very impressive in Saturday’s deserved 2-0 win against Reading with the in-form Amadou Diallo and captain Kristijan Belic on target against The Royals, the latter netting his first goal in claret and blue.
But U18 coach Collison has singled out the oft-overworked goalkeeper Daniel Jinadu for praise after the 16-year-old impressed between the sticks against Reading, helping West Ham move up to sixth in the southern division table.
“We haven’t had too many clean sheets this season so it was good for the defenders and for Daniel Jinadu in goal, who made two really fine saves and looked full of confidence, which was great for him and for the back four in front of him,” former Hammers midfielder Collison told the club’s official website.
Jinadu, who was born in Nigeria but has represented England at U16 level, moved to West Ham in January after a spell at Chelsea. And the 2-0 win against Reading was only his second appearance for the U18s this season.
It remains to be seen whether he will now keep his place in Collison’s starting XI. He’s certainly made a good first impression.
