Premier League leaders Liverpool have a firm admirer in the shape of KV Mechelen’s Ivory Coast international William Togui.

Who wouldn’t want to play for Liverpool right now?
Everything Jurgen Klopp’s side touches turns to gold right it seems, after lifting the Champions League for the sixth time in a warm night in Madrid, a first ever Premier League trophy could be on it’s way to Anfield.
And in Klopp, the bearded, bespectacled beast who patrols the touchline with an almost permanent grin emanating from those pearly white veneers, the Reds have a coach who almost every player in the game would be more than happy to go to war for.
Ivory Coast international William Togui has some way to go before his dream comes true but you can understand why the Mechelen forward has picked Liverpool as the club he wants to represent above all others. Forget Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United, Anfield is where it’s at.
“My ambition is to play at the top level. I would like to show my talent in a big league, like the Premier League,” Togui told SportMania.
“I’m aiming for England because it suits my style of play. I dream of joining Liverpool, a club who have the culture of winning. I like challenges.”

A tally of four goals in 24 games last season suggests that Togui’s dream is unlikely to become reality any time soon. But he has been far more efficient in the first few weeks of 2019/20, finding the net five times in just 11 Jupiler League games for Mechelen.
And it’s telling that Togui, rather than trotting out the same old lines about Barca or Real, has spoken of his admiration for Liverpool instead. What a job Klopp has done restoring this famous old club to it’s former glory.
