It seems that Championship side Queens Park Rangers have missed the chance to sign the Scottish Premiership top scorer Louis Moult on a free.

With a few weeks still go to until the January transfer window opens, it appears that the race to sign Motherwell striker Louis Moult has been won.
According to the Scottish Sun, Preston North End are set to sign the in-form striker, who is expected to move to Deepdale when his contract expires at the end of this season. And Preston should give themselves a hearty pat on the back snapping up the current top scorer in Scottish football.

There has been no shortage of interest after all.
But Queens Park Rangers fans must be wondering why their club fell short in the pursuit of Moult, who has eight goals in Scotland’s top flight this season. The Scottish Sun claimed in October that the 25-year-old was a target for Ian Holloway’s side.

And with QPR struggling financially and under threat from Financial Fair Play, the fact that Moult was available for free at the end of the season and able to sign a pre-contract agreement in January should have seen the London club pull out all the stops to get a deal over the line.
After all, QPR could do with a more reliable goalscorer with no one in their squad notching more than five in the league so far in 2017/18.
But it appears that the opportunity to land Moult on one of the best bargain deals of the year has now passed them by.
