Scottish Premiership champions Celtic reportedly want to sign Nick Powell from Championship side Wigan Athletic, but what about Christie?

Nick Powell has certainly brought his League One form into the Championship. After starring as Wigan cruised to the third tier title last season, the Latics’ talisman has made the step up with ease, with three goals and three assists to his name already in 2018/19.
No wonder Celtic, who were first linked with Powell towards the end of last season, are still believed to be interested. According to TEAMtalk, the Hoops want the goal-scoring midfielder understood to be valued at £5 million.
Powell could perhaps be the natural number ten that Celtic are lacking, if you discount Ryan Christie that is. Although it seems that Celtic are indeed discounting the 23-year-old Scotland international.
Christie shone during a loan spell at Aberdeen last season but even eight goals and 15 assists is seemingly not enough for Brendan Rodgers to give him a run in the team. The former Inverness youngster has played just nine minutes of league football since returning to Parkhead, all coming in the 1-0 win against Hamilton on Sunday.

The Scottish Sun even reported last week that Celtic are unlikely to extend a contract that runs until next summer with Jack Ross’s Sunderland keen to offer him an escape route.
And, if Christie cannot get in Celtic’s team now, their interest in Powell seems to kill any hopes he might have had of winning Rodgers over.
