Premier League newcomers Wolverhampton Wanderers want a centre-back with Marcos Rojo, Pepe and Eliaquim Mangala all linked with moves to Molineux.

It is no secret that Eliaquim Mangala is well down the pecking order at Manchester City.

The French centre-back is behind John Stones, Vincent Kompany, Aymeric Laporte and Nicolas Otamendi – while youngster Tosin Adarabioyo will hope to tie up the fifth-place spot next season under Pep Guardiola.

So it would be a major surprise if Mangala, who joined from Porto in 2014 for £32 million, is still at the Etihad when the transfer window shuts; particularly with City offering him to interested suitors such as Fenerbahce, as reported by Fotomac.

And, with Wolverhampton Wanderers keen to add one more centre-back before August 9, there is certainly a case to be made that Mangala is now their most viable target.

The Sun stated at the start of the summer that the 27-year-old, who is represented by Jorge Mendes, was a target for Wolves.

Now, the Premier League newcomers are reported to be interested in Manchester United’s £30 million-rated Marcos Rojo. But Yahoo Sport claim that he would rather stay in the North West of England, meaning Everton are the favourites to sign him.

Wolves are also allegedly keen on an ambitious deal for 35-year-old Pepe but Besiktas president Fikret Orman has confirmed to Turkish Football that the Super Lig side have no intention of selling.

So, with time running out, Mangala should seem more and more tempting.
