Championship outfit Cardiff City have been linked with Bordeaux’s Ligue 1 midfielder Sankhare this summer.

Cardiff City decided against a move for Bordeaux midfielder Younousse Sankhare due to concerns about his attitude, according to Wales Online.

In Neil Warnock, the Bluebirds have a real old-school disciplinarian at the helm in South Wales. The 70-year-old demands nothing short of blood, sweat and tears from every player in his squad and woe betide those who dare to question this sharp-tongued Yorkshireman.

So pairing Warnock with Sankhare would have probably created a combustible cocktail that Cardiff are better off avoiding.

Wales Online reports that the Championship outfit dropped their interest in the 29-year-old Senegal international after growing concerned about his personality. Sankhare, who the BBC claimed would cost around £4.5 million, is now reportedly heading to La Liga with Leganes instead.

According to France Football, Nottingham Forest were also interested in Sankhare when it became clear that he had no future at Bordeaux under Paolo Sousa.

If the club are to finally bring an end to their 20-year exile from the Premier League, they need everyone pulling in the same direction. And in 30-year-old Samba Sow, the East Midland giants now have an experienced central midfielder in their ranks.

Has the door closed on Sankhare? It looks like it.
