Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are reportedly hoping to lure Harry Wilson to Ibrox from Premier League Liverpool – taking a leaf out of Celtic’s book.

A skilful, subtle Premier League winger moved to Glasgow on loan two and a half years ago to begin a journey that would result in three Scottish Premiership titles, successive domestic trebles and a huge amount of personal development.

By the time Patrick Roberts leaves Celtic this summer and returns to Manchester City, he will be a player transformed. One that West Ham and Leicester City are willing to pay £15 million for, according to The Express.

But could Rangers have found their own answer to Roberts in Liverpool’s Harry Wilson?

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are among a host of teams keen to sign the 21-year-old on loan next season and Steven Gerrard’s Anfield connections could give the Ibrox giants an advantage over Leeds, Aston Villa and Huddersfield.

Wilson might have made just one first-team appearance for Liverpool so far but a loan spell at Hull City last season gave him the platform to showcase his massive potential. A clever left footed right winger with an eye for the spectacular, Wilson scored seven goals from just 12 Championship starts.

But could he be Rangers’ very own version of Roberts? Both are hugely talented and creative attacking midfielders who have the raw attributes to be massive stars in the future and Rangers would give Wilson an opportunity to play top level football in front of a sell-out, vociferous crowd.

A spell in Scotland did wonders for Roberts’ development, so don’t bet against Wilson following in his footsteps.
